The Sunday Times Wine Club offers members access to over 1,000 wines at great prices. Members receive a monthly newsletter that includes information on new releases, tasting notes, and recipes.

I have been a customer of The Sunday Times Wine Club on and off for several years now and have enjoyed the journey so far, and that’s what encouraged me to do a customer review.

Let us dig into what it is and how it can help you get into quality wines without going to your local wine merchant and trawling through their stock to find something that you think you would like.

Subscription Offers

It all starts with an offer if you are lucky enough to get one of their direct mail offers. This gives you the information that you need about their offer.

Instead, you may have a friend who has used them in the past and has a money voucher they can share with you.

Just to make things clear there are a couple of ways that you can get to be invited to join the club.

You also need to understand that once you order your box you have 30 days if you decide that it is not for you and you want to cancel your subscription before the money is taken from you.

Although you have the right to cancel at any time even if you have tried it and you feel it just isn’t for you or the budget won’t stretch to it at this time, whatever the reason.

The way I got to know about The Sunday Times Wine Club was from a direct mailing shot. I guess that is their way of quickly getting more customers.

When you first join you get a welcome pack inside with all the products on offer. Which also has a voucher to give to a friend for the same savings that you have just received plus tasting notes and some general information.

The main offer is a greatly reduced-price case of wine of your choice, Mixed, Red, or White, with free delivery to your door in 2 to 3 days. (At the time of going to press) The first case is £65.00 (at the date of going to press)

Whichever way you get an introduction. I have stuck with a standard subscription as this allows me to tailor my case each time.

You can swap wines out or in online in the wine subscription section in your account settings. You can also change your wine subscription as a one-off or ongoing

Unboxing a Subscription Delivery

Right now, I am excited because I have just received my latest box from the club and I am going to share with you some of the great wines that they offer.

I am just going to unbox it and show you what is inside.

When we look inside the box we can see a great selection of big reds.

With names like The Full15 from South Eastern Australia, an intense full-bodied wine.

2021 Cabalie, a classically ripe-tasting Catalan red.

Opi delicious Malbec from Argentina.

2021 Pallastro Puglia rosso, from Italy.

Stones and Bones 2020 a sensual Syrah from Portugal.

The Black Stump 2021 is another firm favourite from South Eastern Australia.

Also a gratis bottle of Casa Cantalini Prosecco.

Plus 2 x 2 Dartinton stemless wine tumblers.

What a fabulous array of wine and goodies to start you off on your journey with the club.

Like most people, I have my own favourite bottles. These 6 are right up there in my opinion. Each has a special place for us as we do like a glass of wine with our evening meal.

What I really am impressed with is the fact that you won’t find any of these in your local wine merchant or supermarket to me which makes it very special.

Subscription Types

There are three main subscriptions, Wine club subscriptions, Vineyard Partners and Wine Club Unlimited but once you have joined you will find that there is so much more.

Just go to terms and conditions for full detail. You may need to make a phone call or send an email to find out how they each work.

What I really like is that as you get more familiar with what wines are on offer you will get your firm favourites. Ours are reds, big reds, and once you are a member you can go and build your own case from the brilliant range of wines on offer or sign up for whatever type of subscription suits you.

Pros & Cons

Pros – you get a wine that you would not find in other wine outlets as they are unique to the group.

Customer service is brilliant you have an expert in wine at the end of the phone who can sort out any problem that you can throw at them. This also includes if you want them to do a wine pick for you down to information about a specific wine.

I have had occasions when I have had to put a delivery off for a while. It’s never a problem – it’s just taken care of.

If you haven’t heard of the Sunday Times Wine Club before, then you’re not alone. This wine club was launched by the Sunday Times newspaper in 2015 and has since become one of the UK’s leading wine clubs with over 100,000 subscribers.

Cons – Delivery – although this goes smoothly most of the time, I had a few issues with this especially when I have not been home at the time of delivery, even when I give instructions to leave the order in a safe place for the delivery driver, even though this is an option that is given when you place your order.

In conclusion, the benefit far outweighs the negatives especially when you get such great wine whatever the style and whatever your budget. It also gives you a chance to try something that you would not normally go for.
