When you look online for anything nowadays it is difficult to figure out what are the best and why.
In comparing my top 5 waiters friend wine bottle openers, there are several points that I have been looking at. First, the design, does it look great. How will it fit in the hand and the ease of use, and what are the best attributes of the corkscrew! does the file cutting knife work well, is the screw of a good quality.
When considering that this style of opener is used extensively by people that work in bars or restaurants, although not exclusively, these types of openers need to be many things.
They need to be robust enough to do the job for many months or years, although it would depend on the usage that it gets, from day today.
Of course, it would need to be light and extremely portable for example and fit nicely into a pocket, without being intrusive. It would also have to be easy to use making sure that if you are pulling many corks a day, then it doesn’t cause wear on the hand of the puller.
Professional Waiters Corkscrew
It’s made of Stainless Steel and Black Resin for the handle and looks impressive, it centers well on the cork and the double fulcrum hinge on the lever helps to pull the cork with ease. It also has a beer bottle opener in case you have someone that prefers a beer.
The only drawback that I have found with this is the foil knife doesn't cut very well. It is a bit on the heavy side at 112g but it gives the feel of quality which makes for the look of a premium opener. The overall dimensions are 11.9 cm long by 3 cm wide but if you have a stand-alone foil cutter then this is still a good opener to have.
Waiters Friend Corkscrew for Bartenders
I was a bit taken back because the look of it is so similar to my first opener. It is made from durable 420 stainless-steel, with very sleek lines.
Its dimensions are 11.43 x 1.27 x 3.18 cm; weiging138 Grams. The long, rounded, serrated foil cutter on our bartender's friend corkscrew really gets the job done.
The centering of the cork is really good.
It has the double fulcrum that seems to be the latest addition to these types of corkscrews. It just feels great to use.
It also has the double-hinged fulcrum which is such a useful addition to the modern corkscrew.
Stripe Collection Custom Corkscrew
I saw that it was originally patented in 1995 and is made in both Spain and in other parts of the EU, I thought that if this was still selling well then, I need to check it out. It is made by the original manufacturers
It is made with painted stainless steel in multiple colours and ranges in price from just under £15 to around £24, and they do a complete range of openers apart from the classic range.
If you are looking for a lightweight opener then this is just what you are looking for.
I would think that this is one for home use as it is so light, but I may be doing it a disservice only time using it will tell.
Small waiters’ friend corkscrew.
By keeping it less bulky they have managed to keep the weight down to 73 gr which makes it more convenient to carry and easier to use. It comes in three colours. Stainless steel, Black rosewood and wood colour and it comes in a classic gift box, so if it’s for you or as a gift for a wine-loving friend it looks really good.
Although it has been through a new design it still has the double fulcrum feature that is the in thing with this type of corkscrew.
3- in-1 waiters’ friend professional corkscrew.
It has of course the double-hinged function that seems the rage right now as it gives that second pull without having to take another turn of the screw to get the full length of the cork.
This stylish corkscrew because of its design gives it a different feel.
The unusual design feature of this opener is that it has an easy-grip rubber handle so great for camping or picnics or just for out in the garden.
